Mayor Plante : Time to withdraw the Israel Premier Tech cycling team of the Grand Prix Cycliste

Mayor Plante : Time to withdraw the Israel Premier Tech cycling team of the Grand Prix Cycliste

Campaign launch : Stop the race : Don’t collaborate with Israeli APARTHEID

The launch will take place in front of the Montreal Municipal Council at 155 Notre Dame East (Lucien-Saulnier building) Monday May 16 at 5 pm.

We invite you to the launch of the campaign against the participation in the Montreal Grand Prix of the Israel Premier Tech cycling team, a team sponsored by Premier Tech, a Quebec company, which proclaims itself an ambassador for Israeli apartheid.

The 2022 Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal will take place on September 11. The City of Montreal is a public partner of this international sporting event. The City therefore assumes an important part of ethical responsibility in the promotion of this prestigious, high-calibre competition.

We should remember that during the campaign of boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) against apartheid in South Africa in 1986, the former mayor of Montreal, Jean Doré, declared Montreal an anti-apartheid city and banned any commercial relations with South African suppliers.

Palestinians and Jews united (PAJU) urges the Mayor of Montreal to follow the example of Jean Doré and make Montreal once more an anti-apartheid city. We must not continue commercial relations with a state which practices a system of institutionalized segregation and which ignores law and human rights.

PAJU (Palestinians and Jewish Unity) is now in its 22nd year of existence. As an organization of solidarity with the Palestinian people and defender of human rights, our campaign in front of the city of Montreal carries one demand and one only: the intervention of the Mayor for the withdrawal of the Israel Premier Tech cycling team of the competition.

This launch will take place in front of the Montreal Municipal Council at 155 Notre Dame East (Lucien-Saulnier building) Monday May 16 at 5 pm.
