PAJU question to Valérie Plante

By Chadi Marouf

Our group stands for a city without Israeli apartheid and is proud of the history of Montreal and its position against racism and apartheid.

On April 18, 1946, Jackie Robinson, wearing a Montreal Royals jersey (No. 9), was the first black player in the major leagues at the Roosevelt in Jersey City ending the ban on blacks in the major leagues.

Former Mayor Jean Doré and his administration were at the forefront of the anti-apartheid struggle. In 1986, Mayor Doré had the Bourassa Government amend the City Charter with the aim of prohibiting any transaction by the City with the apartheid regime of South Africa.

Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch recently declared that Israel practices apartheid.

Will the city of Montreal, under Valérie Plante, withdraw Israel Premier Tech from the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal as it has already withdrawn the Russian and Belarusian teams?

Plante did not want to answer and instead let her councillors, Josefina Blanco and Caroline Bourgeois, answer incoherent generalities. According to them, the city should be so “inclusive” that it should even include apartheid and racism in it…

Valérie Plante, time to get to your senses! As they say here : il faut que les bottines suivent les babines!

Remove the Isael Premier Tech team which promotes apartheid, racism and segregation between people.
