Retired Israeli general: ‘Israel’ could collapse in a year due to war

Retired Israeli Major General Yitzhak Brik warns that a prolonged war of attrition with Hamas and Hezbollah could lead to “Israel’s” collapse within a year, criticizing current occupation leaders for failing to achieve Tel Aviv’s war objectives.

Israeli retired Major General Yitzhak Brik warned that “Israel” could collapse within a year if the war of attrition against Hamas and Hezbollah continues.

In an article published by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, Brik stated that Security Minister Yoav Gallant seems to be starting to realize the truth, “If a regional war erupts due to the failure to reach an agreement on Gaza, Israel will be in imminent danger.”

Brik, however, added that “most of Gallant’s grandiose statements about the goals of the war on Gaza have not yet been achieved.”

After the Israeli occupation forces entered Gaza City, Gallant claimed they would “control the city and its tunnels and defeat Hamas,” a goal which Brik noted “remains out of reach.”

Moreover, Brik underscored that Gallant also claimed, during the attack on Khan Younis in southern Gaza, that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was alone in the tunnels and had lost control of his men. That statement was also not true.

The retired IOF major general continued, “I assume Gallant now realizes that the war has lost its purpose. We are sinking into the Gaza quagmire, losing our soldiers there with no chance of achieving the primary goal of the war, which is to topple Hamas.”

Brick described the statements of Gallant, Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Occupation Forces Herzl Halevi, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “smoke and mirrors” to deceive the Israeli settlers, emphasizing that both the political and military levels are leading “Israel” towards disaster.

He affirmed that replacing Netanyahu and his far-right allies might save “Israel” from an existential spiral that could soon reach the point of no return.

Battle with Hezbollah now is a strategic defeat

Earlier in July, Brik voiced deep concerns over the Israeli occupation’s aggression on Gaza and warned of severe consequences if the war extends to the northern front with Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Brik admitted that the Israeli occupation had faced significant losses in Gaza, emphasizing that if the situation escalates to a confrontation with Hezbollah, it could lead to a strategic defeat for “Israel”.

Criticizing the current military strategy as ineffective, he pointed out that despite extensive bombardments over eight months, Hamas’ underground tunnel network remains largely intact, and the Resistance movement has replenished its ranks.

Furthermore, Brik accused the IOF’s spokesperson of providing misleading information regarding the effectiveness of the operations in Gaza and the number of Hamas casualties. He highlighted that Hamas fighters are not engaging in direct combat, making it challenging for Israeli forces to inflict substantial damage.

High-ranking officers in the field, according to Brik, are covertly advocating for a ceasefire to reorganize and resupply. The IOF is exhausted, with depleted ammunition and fatigued equipment, and there is a growing reluctance among reservists to rejoin the fight, he stressed.
