Liberal MP Wayne Long and his administrative assistant Jeannette Arsenault were captured on video as they publicly intimidated pro-Palestinian protestors accusing them of “terrorism”, and issuing what were clearly racist comments.
Independent Jewish Voices (IJV) and Palestinian and Jewish Unity (PAJU) are horrified by the Quebec government’s and local media’s uncritical reception of CIJA’s “Unlearn it” curriculum, which includes harmful pro-Israel propaganda and is not a useful resource for learning about and addressing antisemitism.
Palestinians and Jewish Unity (PAJU) denounces the political profiling of the SPVM and is concerned about the intimidation and escalation of police forces against the right to demonstrate.
“The request for an injunction is rejected for lack of demonstration of an emergency,” we can read in the decision of judge Chantal Massé, rendered this Wednesday at the Montreal courthouse.
Canadian universities, including McGill University, remain public institutions funded not only by the students who are bravely protesting and asking for accountability but the universities are also funded by public funds. It is therefore imperative that these institutions remain accountable for misuse of public funds in order to fund genocide.
